Hitting the streets

This group is so much fun. We ate last night at Varsity and then played in a field overlooking the city for about an hour before going to a local church for a worship service. This morning we were up early ready to hit the streets. We went around talking about 1027 Church and telling them about the local food bank in need of food. We collected tons. We are on our way to the mall to eat and another worship service.

Stomach Bug - Go Away!

Owen was sick Monday night - I was sick Wednesday night - C.J. got sick on the bus on the way to school Thursday morning - Nana was sick Thursday afternoon - and today - Nick's turn. Owen has probably had the hardest time. His went from throwing up Monday night to the other end all week. Hopefully we are all getting over it. We leave Monday at 7 am for Atlanta! And because of the hectic week - we haven't even packed yet! Oh My!!! I still have a bazillion loads of laundry to do. My house is a wreck but I am trying to be quiet so Nick can rest. It never ends.
Thankfully we had some down time last night and got to have dinner with my brother and sister-in-law and their kids. Avery is at EKU at we lucked out because she came home for the weekend. Riley and C.J. played guitar together and Riley showed C.J. the beginning of Ironman. So C.J. is big stuff now. Yippie - my son wants to be like Ozzy Osbourne - a mother's dream! Hopefully my brother's family does not get the lovely cooties that my family obviously has a deep desire to share.

Football Season - In the Spring?

Yes! Flag Football season has began!! And I am quite happy. Football is my sport. Well, it is the sport I understand and am interested in. However Flag Football - I am so confused!!
Here is what I understood before the game and what C.J. and his team practiced.
No Tackle/Contact. If you have physical contact you will get a penalty.
You can run the ball, which is what they practiced-they did not practice passing
Here is what we find out when we get there.
The line can push and shove - no penalty
You cannot run the ball - only pass!
So needless to say, the Rams did not have a good first game. They were pushed and shoved but were afraid to push and shove back for fear of a penalty and coach was telling them to pass, but they did not know to who or how. But they had a great practice after both games which looked much more promising! They have a great coaching team so I am optimistic. I do not like to lose! (who me?) C.J. is the wide receiver and did get the opportunity to catch and run the ball for about 10 feet before being surrounded by the other team. I was thankful they cannot tackle the player with the ball - just grab the flag. I was so proud. This was the best play of the game and it was by my son! Since they do not play on both Saturdays of Spring Break they have a while to lick their wounds (both physically and mentally) before playing again.
Oh and another thing about Flag Football - games are only 30 minutes. They play two games each Saturday. So if you have ADHD - this is the game for you. You really do not have time to have your mind wonder off! It's pretty intense.

Here is a pic of his team. He is in the middle of the back row.

What a mess..

We have had beautiful weather in Louisville for the last few days. It is making me have severe spring fever. Last night we decided to eat dinner on the back deck and enjoy the warm sunshine. As you can see we had spaghetti for dinner. This was the first time Owen had "real" table food for dinner - not just a bite of mommy's bread. As you can see he loved it - well maybe not the food so much as the mess. It was hilarious! He kept looking at C.J. with a look that said "can you believe she is letting me do this?" After eating the high chair was hosed off outside and Owen was hosed off in the shower. We had spaghetti everywhere - but it was so much fun. Spaghetti was somewhat messy for us big people too. C.J. spilled his plate which made Sassy (our Jack Russell) very happy. Unfortunately the fun did not last long enough - Nick had to rush to the Fire Department for his shift and C.J. had to be at church for Thirst training. But it was fun while it lasted.

Heading to Atlanta

We just got the word that it will be o.k. for us to take Owen on the Thirst Trip!! Yeah!! Nick and I had wanted to go last year - but I was ready to pop being 8 1/2 months pregnant and Nick wasn't able to take off work since he had big pregnant wife! C.J. had a ball last year when they went to Philadelphia. This year we are heading to Atlanta. We leave Monday March 30th. We are so excited! C.J. has worked hard to get this opportunity for a second year in a row. We are so proud of him. Nick and I love working with the students and cannot wait to enjoy this time with them.

As many of you know it is pure comic relief at our house. You would have loved it last night! During the ice storm our big pine tree fell in our back yard. This tree was about 75 feet tall. We were very lucky that it fell in a way that did not cause any damage - PTL! But with Nick's hectic schedule we have not been able to get the tree cleaned up. Our back yard looks like a disaster area - but the pine smells wonderful. A few weeks back when Nick had a chance to work on it, his chainsaw broke. So over the weekend we bought a new one and he was able to get off at a decent time last night to work on the yard. But guess what? The new one did not work properly! Nick was not a happy camper! So to Home Depot we headed. On the way there we realized that my cell phone (that was just replaced under warranty 3 days ago) had malfunctioned. We then headed to Verizon. This is why I do not try to plan too far in advance. Plans change because of things out of your control. But the bright side - Our back yard still smells wonderful, Sassy has a nice obstacle coarse, we will have awesome fire wood next winter and my cell phone will be replaced (again) under warranty.

Wrestling with Pooh - Dad loves this!!

Looks like Pooh might take him!! (With help from Dad)

Nope - Owen's a tough guy and takes Pooh down!

Then they hug - "Good match".

New to this...

O.K. So I have been debating joining this blogging world for some time now. I regularly read several friends blogs, however I never thought I had enough to talk about. But then, it is me. I always have something to talk about! Our life is very busy so I should! I don't know if this will be very interesting, but it should be entertaining. There is never a dull moment in this house! Right now C.J. is at My Old Kentucky Home with my mom and Ly. For those who do not know, Ly is a foreign exchange student that is staying with my mom. She has been fun to be around and learn from. Chris just got here and is playing with Owen. They are having a ball. I will try to get some pictures posted of Owen so everyone can see how big he is getting.
